Amy had a field trip to Fish Creek Park and I was able to go with her. They had an amazing guide, Mr. Stiles, and they learned all about weeds, plants, flowers, and some wildlife. I learned that you can eat dandelions. I guess I knew that you could because of some of the delicacies out there like Dandelion Soup, but I would never have thought to just pick one and eat it. Nor will I ever try!

Freeze or Fry
This was Billy and Adam's first outdoor swim meet. It was in Red Deer but unfortunately I was unable to go so Brad took them. They did really well the first day and considering the weather, the second day they did OK. That was actually the meet where Adam qualified to go to the provincial trials in Medicine Hat. Way to go Adam!

Heritage Park Patrol Picnic
Last week, I went as a parent volunteer with Adam to the Patrol picnic at Heritage Park. Wow! What an undertaking. First off there were about 120 school buses that showed up to drop off nearly 7000 kids. There were policemen everywhere directing the buses in a very orderly manner to the drop off points and also for pick up at the end of the day on a very precise schedule. The police helicopter came, the rides were running, the stores, including the ice cream shop were open, there was hotdogs, pop and chips for everyone, a snow cone station and the candy tent. Ohhh, the Candy Tent(s). Can you say sugar rush! Kids were lined up 5 or 6 deep on three sides of each of three tents where thousands of dollars were exchanged for dentist bills, I mean candy. It was unbelievable. I did manage to keep my group away from it till the very end. But the first thing we did do was stop for ice cream.
After that, we wandered around a bit, went and saw the blacksmith, the laundry, the bank, then we picked up our lunch and made our way to the bandstand area for the Appreciation Ceremonies, the whole reason we were there (not just for candy) where Buck Shot was the MC.
As were getting ready to watch the Appreciation Ceremonies and presentations there was a policeman, a real live policeman, up on stage. No this policeman is not directing traffic...
He's doing the YMCA

After the ceremony and awards, we were able to make one last stop at the candy tent and the kids thought that was a great way to end the day!

More Updating
Yesterday as I was summarizing the past six months, two things were missing that I did not have pictures for. I was really hoping they were on my other camera but I had to wait for the battery to charge before I could check it out. Sure enough, they were there and I am so happy. I had mentioned before in one of my last posts on the other blog the the boys had achieved their black belts in tae kwon do. Well, now they have received them as well as their certificate from Korea. I am really proud of them for that accomplishment
Also, as Amy had turned 8, she was baptized by her dad and I couldn't let that go by without a picture or two or three. I am so proud of her for her decision to be baptized.

Updating
I suppose if I am going to start a new blog, I ought to add some new posts. Here's just a quick summary of what we have been up to since I quit the old blog:
Nova is getting bigger...Went cross country skiing with the boys...
Amy had her 8th birthday. We went to a Calgary Hitman game and she got the puck that came over the glass...
...and bigger...
We went on our annual cross country ski/snowshoe trip to Elk Lakes Cabin and had a blast...
The Easter Bunny came...
...and bigger...
We rolled Easter eggs...
Billy became a teenager...
Went to the opera "Coldsnap" that the kids have been working on all year at school...
Watched Adam's soap box derby...
Went on a field trip with Jenny...
The girls picked up their costumes for their recital that is happening next week...
And I think Nova is now about as big as she is going to get.

A Fresh Start
I've kind of missed blogging and just sharing all the little thing that are my life so I'm excited to get back at it. It's been a while so I don't know if I'll try to catch up or just start new. Maybe I'll just throw in the odd thing here or there as I go along; we'll see.
